

I tried my hand at strawberry sponge cake. Everything was perfect except the rise of the sponge.
We cannot get self rising flour easily in my country so I used plain flour and baking powder but maybe my conversion used wrong measurements? Do please guide.

I’m not sure what height you achieved but this sponge is only 4 – 4 ½ cm high when baked.
To make your own self-raising flour mix 110g plain flour with 1 level teaspoon baking powder. So, for this recipe you’ll need 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder.
