Hello,
There may be something amongst the Sainsbury Magazine archives but I’m not near then just now! There were several contributors so perhaps it wasn’t a Delia recipe!
In the more recent How to Cheat book doesn’t include any liver recipes but the original How to Cheat has this recipe (below) made with condensed soup.
I’ve not seen any recipes that use gravy granules.
Kind regards
Lindsey
Liver Veneziana
Lambs' Liver with Wild Mushrooms in Madeira
Liver and Bacon Casserole
(Serves 4)
1¼ Ib. of calves' liver
1 tablespoon of plain flour seasoned with salt and pepper
Some dripping
2 large onions, chopped
1 10 oz. can of carrots
4 lean bacon rashers
1 dessertspoon of Worcestershire sauce
Freshly milled black pepper
1 10 oz. can of condensed vegetable soup
¼ pint of water
Pre-heat oven to 350°F (mark 4)
Cut the liver into smallish pieces, which should then be tossed in the seasoned flour.
Fry the pieces in dripping to brown slightly then transfer them into a casserole.
Add the onions, the carrots and the bacon slices laid on top.
Sprinkle the Worcestershire sauce over, and some freshly-milled some Worcestershire sauce over, and some freshly milled black pepper.
Finally, mix the soup with the water and pour that in.
Cover and bake for 1 ¼ hours.
