We like to make our Christmas cakes six weeks ahead, but they keep so well you can make them much sooner.
Christmas pudding is traditionally made on stir up Sunday which this year falls on 26th November. As I’m more likely to have the time to steam on the Sunday I’d mix on the 25th and cook on the 26th.
That said, both cake and pudding keep really well if you store them correctly, so if it suits you to make them sooner you should.
