Christmas Crackers

What?
Fever Tree Christmas Crackers
Why?
Adult Crackers
Have you ever burst open your Christmas cracker with excitement to find a thimble, or a pencil sharpener, or a whistle, or a key ring, or a plastic magnifying glass, or a hankie? And where did all these end up? The bin. I have searched high and low to find crackers with nice presents and they usually come with a nice price tag, But, at the end of the day, they always seem a disappointment. Somehow, they deflate the day.
I have even resorted to making my own. A trip to Paperchase to buy crepe paper, the hats and some of the snaps to go inside; a trip to John Lewis for the ribbon; a stack of cardboard loo holders. But at least I was able to choose a gift for each person: a beautiful lipstick; or a mushroom brush for a foodie friend; or a miniature spirit. Now these did not disappoint but I needed to have a spare few hours to make them – difficult at this time of year.
Then I was wandering around the basement of John Lewis in Oxford Street when I came across a corner bustling with activity. The excitement? Fever Tree Christmas crackers. A range of ten crackers each with a different gin matched with a Fever Tree tonic and one with Johnnie Walker Black whisky matched with ginger ale. All parcelled up delightfully as a cracker, as you can see, and costing £8. And all exclusive to John Lewis.
The gin flavour combinations are: Sipsmith Gin with Indian tonic; One Gin with Indian tonic; Chase Pink Grapefruit with Mediterranean tonic; Warners Rhubarb with Mediterranean tonic; Hendricks gin with Elderflower tonic; JL Raspberry & Hibiscus gin with Elderflower tonic; Pink Pepper gin with Aromatic tonic; Edinburgh gin with Elderflower; and Tarquins Gin with Cucumber tonic. So you can choose your and your friends’ favourite gin to buy.
The Fever Tree corners of bustling activity are in Milton Keynes, Blue Water, Leeds, Trafford, Liverpool, Nottingham, Southampton, Glasgow and Cribbs*. In these cracker shops you can try all the flavours so time your visit appropriately! And then you can also choose four favourites to buy as a box of crackers. Otherwise you can buy them online from John Lewis.
Now I know I have already sung the praises of Fever Tree before when I wrote about their famous flavour pairing wheel, but I do feel that this is an opportunity not to be missed this Christmas. And, as well as putting them on the table (for adults) on the day they make excellent Christmas presents.
