UK grown asparagus should be widely available this month, and with such a short season you need to have quite a few recipes up your sleeve so it doesn't get too boring; our starter of asparagus and cheese tartlets will help you ring the changes and would also make a lovely light lunch. To follow we have roast leg of lamb, which requires 30 minutes resting to give you plenty of time to make the red wine sauce to serve with it, and for dessert, a light and refreshing rhubarb trifle
