Happy birthday Delia!

June 18th 2021 was Delia's 80th birthday. As well as the Guardian article below, there was a nice piece on Radio 4's You and Yours this week.  If you missed it, you can hear it here, just click on the link below

Tim Dowling from The Guradian newspaper has written a lovely article covering the 10 lessons she has taught us.

In his piece he lists them as follows:

1 - She taught us the basics, from boiling an egg to making gravy, and calls her Fried Halloumi with Lime and Caper Vinaigrette 'slightly exotic'

2 - She taught us to make toast and is grateful she never showed us how to eat it

3 - She taught us how to eat spaghetti, and not to worry if you've got any little strands hanging down

4 - She baked the cake for the Rollng Stones album Let It Bleed (you can read more about that here)

5 - She offers reassurance, provided you do exactly as she says

6 - She created 'the Delia effect' stripping supermarket shelves of eggs, prunes and cranberries

7 - She acknowledges the importance of cheating, and published her book Delia's How to Cheat at Cooking

8 - She spoke English by using the English equivalent of French and Italian words

9 - She moves with the times making sure nobody gets left behind

10 - She is still here to help with what he calls 'an insanely comprehensibe website' (we certainly agree with that!)
