Be The First @Sohoplace. London's Newest Theatre
We're giving you the chance to win a trip to London to be one of the first to see a show @sohoplace and stay overnight at a centrally located Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel.
@sohoplace is the first new-build West End theatre in 50 years, located in Soho Place, the first new street name in Soho for 72 years. A state-of-the-art, new and flexible 602-seat auditorium with perfect sightlines from every seat, no obscured views and wonderful acoustics.
The auditorium is configured 'in the round' unifying both audience and actors, known as 'the hug', creating an intimate actor/audience relationship with no seat further than 6 rows from the stage.
The theatre interior was inspired by owner Nica Burns' visit to Epidarus when young. "I was standing on the stage of this great ancient theatre at 8 o'clock - show time - as the last rays of a golden sun were coming through the trees and the stars were starting to twinkle in an indigo sky. It was magic. Epidaurus is one of the greatest threatres in the world and the plays of ancient Greece are still part of our theatre heritage today. The interior of @sohoplace reflects these colours and when you walk through the theatre you walk under crystal star lights, laid out in constellations. When you pass the building, look up to the terrace and you will see the constellations shine".
A ground floor bar and restaurant will be open throughout the day with pre and post-show sittings, showcasing a contemporary international menu focusing on British produce, a mix of classic and modern cocktails, craft beers, and an expertly curated wine list.
The opening production of @sohoplace is The New Vic's much acclaimed production Marvellous, directed by Theresa Heskins, with previews from 15 October. Marvellous is the joyful, inspiring true story of Neil 'Nello' Baldwin. Growing up in the 1950's in less enlightened times, Neil was not expected to be a success. But Neil decided that his life was going to be marvellous. And it is.
A reminder to us all not to let anything stand in the way of your dreams, just go out and make them happen.
Marvellous previews from 15 October @sohoplace, 4 Soho Place, London, W1D 3BG and runs until 26 November 2022. Book your tickets – from £25 to £65 - at sohoplace.org
