

Is it possible to use shortcrust pastry to make the chicken and herb picnic pies, if so what would the timings be.
I don’t feel confident to make the pastry in the recipe!

We haven’t tried them with shortcrust so I’m reluctant to say it will work well, especially as ingredients are so precious at the moment.
They might work very well though.
If I had the same ingredients and wanted to use shortcrust, I would make them like sausage rolls – using shortcrust and the chicken pie filling but I would cut the chicken into small pieces and mix it into the sausagemeat, herbs and all the other filling ingredients. Then make as sausage rolls, glaze, cut, snip and bake at 180 for 35 minutes.
