The classic Christmas cake recipe says spreadable butter

I notice that on classic Christmas cake recipe it now says spreadable butter. Is this the presold spread - it always used to be ordinary unsalted butter at room temperature.

Hello,
Many of Delia’s cakes are made with spreadable butter now. As most of the cakes are all-in-one the spreadable butter works perfectly every time straight from the fridge. Therefore there is no need to think ahead and allow the butter to soften and/or it removes the risk of attempting to soften it in a hurry and in some cases overheat it in a microwave.

However there is no reason that you cannot use block butter that has been left to soften at room temperature if you prefer.
