Hi, I lived in France for 25 years and still wow our gallic chums with your recipes!!
Please can you suggest a substitute for SUET -- not available here. I ask as I want to make mincemeat for xmas mince pies. I always give to special chums, one of your xmas cakes, the usual favourite being the glace fruits cake.
I can usually substitute unavailable ingredients for just about all of your recipes, often, in my opinion, improving the finished result....sorry! However, Delia is my first reference as I've followed her faithfully since the first TV series in the 70's. I 'm now very much influenced by local and Spanish cuisine, also I spent a week chez Michel Gerard in Eugenie Les Bains for a blissful week of full - on gourmet cours de cuisine. This was a present from our 120 guests on my 55th birthday 6. years ago when we had a superb party at home. All guests were French please note!! I made many of Delia's recipes and still our Gallic chums talk about it!
