Have just made delias cherry cake delicious.my question is the top of the cake was cracked open when cooked.I cooked at 150% in my fan oven bottom shelf. 4/5gas.Should it have been smooth I used delias special tin for this cake so tin was correct.would appreciate your comments on how I could stop this happening again

Hello Cynthia,
It does crack a bit in the top.
If it cracks a lot on the top it may be that you may be overcooking it.
You know your oven best, but as a general rule we would suggest 160C if you need to use a fan setting, and I’d probably cover it sooner - 40 minutes perhaps? The shelf position in a fan oven doesn’t usually make any difference.
Kind regards
Lindsey
Thank you Lindsey .going to make cake again will do as you advise.will let you know how it turns out.cynthia
