

Bread temperatures:
Hi Lindsay, I have been using Delia’s recipes for baking bread but an ongoing problem I have Is determining when the bread is baked. Delia says overbake rather than under bake but I don’t like very crusty dry bread. Do you encourage the use of a baking thermometer to test the internal temperature of a loaf of bread? And what should the temperature be in Fahrenheit as I am British but baking in the US? Thanks.

Hello,
We do not use a bread thermometer.
The cooking times in Delia’s bread recipes are to the point where they are cooked.
Delia turns them out and pops them back in the oven when she wants a darker crust.
