

Hi Lindsey. I've just read Delia's How to Cheat Christmas pudding recipe (2 pint basin) which is steam cooked in the oven for 2 hours initially.
I've just made the traditional pudding mix and split into 1 pint basins which I've hob steamed for 8 hours!!!! Have I ruined my puddings and could I have oven steamed them for 2 hours instead?

It’s hard to know.
The cheat pudding is a steamed sponge pudding so I fear it may be dry.
I think I’d try a bit from the base to see how it is.

Hi Lindsey. Essentially my question was had I steamed my "traditional" 1 pint puddings on the hob for 8 hours if I could have gotten away with just doing in the oven for 2 hours, but I think you've put me straight - the cheat's pudding is a "sponge" affair, so it look like my traditional one is ok?
