Hi Lindsey,
Hope all's well with you this fine Saturday morning.
We've just had a 20 minute power outage and I had some ginger biscuits that had been put in about five minutes previously. I left them in and they had turned golden with the residual heat but were still a bit soft so they are now having 10 minutes to cook them properly.
It leads me to ask what is the best thing to do if I'd had meat in the oven, leave it in and hope the power returns quickly or take it out and chill it or are neither of these options good if it's meat?
Enjoy the weekend

Hi Wendy,
The Gingernuts are one of our all time favourite biscuits. I hope they still turn out ok; you might have invented something new!
With regards to meat, as you don’t know when the power is going to come back, if it’s a long way from being cooked, I would remove it from the oven, cool it as quickly as you can, in the coolest place you have, but not the fridge as you don’t want the other items to spoil. Then cook it as soon as the oven is at full temperature. Or depending on the meat, you could BBQ it!
I hope you have a good weekend too.

The biscuits were slightly overdone and I think five minutes would have been better rather than the 10 minutes I gave them, they're still edible though. They didn't even go soft when they were dunked, so maybe I have invented another recipe!
I do owe you an apology, I realise your page is for Delia's recipes and the meat question was nothing to do with her recipes and I'm sorry about that, I just wasn't thinking, it seemed a good time to ask as I had been without power to know for future reference.

Hi Wendy,
No worries Wendy, it was a very good ‘Ask’.
