I made my Classic Christmas cake, thinking I would decorate it with nuts like the photo of the last minute Christmas cake. However, I thought the nuts would be stuck to the cake using apricot jam glazing or something - I have only just realised I should have put them on the cake before cooking it. Is there anyway I can decorate the cake with nuts even though it is already cooked? This is the first time I've made one and I don't think I can face making marzipan and icing and icing it. Also, because of the fruit sticking up, even though I smoothed it with the wooden spoon as directed, I don't think the icing would look smooth - it'd have all bumps underneath!
