

Hi there. I am sure that somewhere , over the years, the Goddess that is Delia Smith did an orange pastry Mince pie. Am I correct in thinking this ?
If not do you know of a recipe for this? Also can they be frozen in advance.

It’s not a Delia recipe but you can make your shortcrust with finely grated orange zest stirred into the mixture after you have rubbed in the fat and finish the pastry with orange juice instead of water.
You can add extra orange zest to the mincemeat too.
We always make, bake, cool and freeze (without the icing sugar). Then take out whatever quantity you need and let them defrost in a warmish room for 45 minutes.
You can warm them in the oven if you like.
