Yikes! Utter disaster with Chunky Marmalade recipe which I followed to the letter but has turned out so horribly bitter it is completely inedible. What can have gone wrong?

Hello,
I can’t tell from your post if you’ve made marmalade for yourself many times and just don’t like this recipe or if it’s your first time?
Whether we are making the dark chunky or the Traditional Seville Orange marmalade the proportions of orange to sugar are the same. 50% fruit to sugar.
Everything is incorporated so I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong because marmalade made to these proportions has a bitter sweet flavour.
Many good quality shop-bought marmalades are about 30% fruit to sugar so they will taste sweeter.
A good wok is a kitchen staple and a must for every home cook so we're giving you the chance to win a Samuel Groves Classic Non-Stick Wok worth £170 from the Tri-Ply Collection.
