Hi. I've used Delia's Christmas pudding recipe for years now and have always used the traditional 2pt Pyrex bowl to steam it in. I've always found the covering and string-tying part to be a complete pain, though, so, this year, as I want to make two 1pt puddings, I have bought some small plastic pudding bowls with lids from Lakeland. Do I still need to steam them for 8 hours, please? Or can they be microwaved instead? And how do the timings work on Christmas Day?

Hello,
We would still steam them for 8 hours covered with parchment and foil and then if you like, use the lids to cover them before storing them away.
Make sure you do a really good pleat in the top of the covers. Sometimes plastic basins change shape as the mixture expands and if they are covered too tightly you can end up with some odd shaped puddings!
Please, please make sure they don’t put it in the microwave, as it will spoil it. We would cover them with parchment and foil and steam then for 2 hours on the day.
Best wishes
Lindsey
