Hi Lindsey
I'm going to make Delia's Sticky Prune and Date Cake.
I have all the ingredients but not sure about the flour.
I have bought Wholemeal Bread Flour could I use this and also it does not say on the recipe if it should be self raising or plain. I assume the wholemeal bread flour is self raising.
Never used wholemeal flour so not sure what I'm doing.
Thank you
Margaret

Hello Margaret,
Generally strong flour is not suitable for cake making but as this cake is a denser fruitcake and half the flour is plain white, I think it will be fine to use.
Strong bread flour is not self-raising flour but the wholemeal flour in this recipe is plain not self-raising.
We show the sticky prune and date cake in this cookery school video if you haven’t seen it….
Lesson 4. Family Cakes
You could use the remaining strong whomeal flour and try Delia’s very easy Wholemeal Loaf, which we show in this video…
Lesson 1. Wholemeal Breads
Best wishes
Lindsey
