Fan oven temperatures

Thank you for your question.

It’s because all of Delia’s recipes that are cooked in an oven have been thoroughly tested using conventional electric and gas ovens.

This is partly because Delia started publishing recipes many years before fan ovens were common place but also because Delia and all her testers have found the results in fan ovens to vary quite a bit from one fan oven to another.

As a general rule we recommend that you use an oven thermometer to check your oven. 

If you have to, or prefer to, use a fan oven we recommend that you reduce the given oven temperature by 20 degrees C. You might find that is too much or not enough, it’s a case of getting to know your oven.
