

Sticky Prune and Date Cake
I have made this cake while living in Johannesburg and I have made this cake in the United Kingdom. I have never been able to cook it for 1 hour and 50 minutes as your recipe says - it’s much too long. It has taken between 50 minutes and an hour at most. I have passed the recipe to a friend in the UK who reported a cooking time of 55 minutes to be baked nicely. Please will you comment? Thanks, Ruth

Hello Ruth,
We bake this cake regularly following the instructions in the recipe and covering is half way through the cooking time.
Are you using a fan setting? As the cake is baked on a lower shelf of a conventional oven the equivalent temperature using a fan setting would be about 115C or 240F.
