Conserving celebration cakes
Asked on 15 May 2020 by Steve Nicklin
Hi - I baked Delia’s rich fruit Christmas cake in early March as a christening cake with the christening due next week. I have been feeding it brandy more-or-less weekly (as I usually do when making them for Christmas and other family occasions) since then. Clearly at the moment, the Christening is on hold until possibly the end of August - should I now stop feeding it and just keep it covered until icing etc? I’d be most grateful for your advice.
Many thanks.
Hello,
Yes, that’s exactly what I would do. Stop feeding it now and keep it well wrapped in an airtight container, a cool dark place.
Best wishes
