I have been asked to make a christening cake for my nephew for 80 people. I have seen Delias recipe for a 14 inch cake in a square tin what size would this be in a round tin?
Also want to do this with a 2nd tier of lemon sponge what size would your recommend. The decoration is going to be simple.
A desperate auntie
Thanks
Helen

Hello Helen,
I think that is a 16 egg recipe you are referring to.
My best guess is that it will make a 15 inch round cake.
For the lemon sponge tier, I would do a 12 inch cake.
(I’m not sure if you are asking this as well! but I would do the 12 egg lemon sponge as two sponges as they are always better baked in layers - either 2 x 12 inch sponge tins or make a 6 egg sponge in a 12 inch tin – twice.)
Kind regards
Lindsey
Thanks Lindsey
I want to get this so right for them. I have now decided to go square. 14 inch square fruit. I have looked in the scaling up and it only goes as far as 10 inch square ? How do I ensure I get the right quantities
Thanks a now worried Aunty- why did I agree!
Helen
Hello Helen,
Just multiply the ingredients for the 4 egg recipe by 4.
