

I am making a Christmas cake in a 16cm diameter hemisphere cake tin with the idea to make 2 cakes to form sphere. The mixture is rich fruit cake. How long should I bake the cake? I only have the time for a sponge mixture.

We don’t have a hemisphere cake tin of any size, so this is a difficult question to answer.
I’d be guided by the amount of mixture and also I guess that it must be difficult to protect the outside of the tin in the way that we do.
Assuming you can fit the 4 egg mixture in your tin, baked at 140C, using convention heat, covered with parchment, I think you should take a peek after 2 hours.
