I was so excited at finding a recipe for wholemeal loaf that I don't have to knead (!) but mine turned out quite dense rather than light inside and I'm not sure why - any advice please?
Many thanks
Liz

Hello Liz,
Firstly, I should say that this wholemeal loaf will be denser that many that you will find in a shop (well that is if you’re lucky enough to find a shop which has bread in stock!).
Secondly, it may be that your dough didn’t rise sufficiently before baking? I’m not sure if you followed the recipe or watched the cookery school (or both?) but the cookery school video shows more precisely how this particularly recipe works.
My goodness, that was a quick reply - many thanks indeed!
I watched the video and then followed the recipe but my dough seemed a bit sticky and you are right as I think it didn't quite rise as it should have in spite of me leaving it for 2 hours.
I live in France so perhaps the flour I used wasn't exactly the same, although it was as near as I could get - we are not short of bread here (fingers crossed that will last) but I thought it would be nice to bake my own so will definitely try again.
Thank you again for responding so quickly - stay safe.
