Hello Lindsey, I’ve treated myself to a Silverwood 20cm loose base cake tin ( I bought it in a local suppliers in Belfast) but I think I’ve got the wrong size as it’s over 7.5 cm deep. My question is will it be ok for all sponge cakes and should I just hold on to it or change it for the 20 x4.5 cm.? Also it doesn’t have any ‘Delia online’ markings. Thank you.
Regards
Susan

Hello Susan,
The tin you have will be great for any of Delia’s 20cm cakes. But for sponge cakes like a classic Victoria sponge cake, where the recipe is baked in two layers, a pair of shallow tins (sandwich tins) is better. Delia’s 20cm deep cake tin is 7.5cm but the Delia sandwich tins are a little deeper than the ‘standard’. Some recipes will be fine, most benefit from the 4cm height and some need at least 4cm.
You may get lots of use for Silverwood deep tin – it will last a lifetime.
Best wishes
Lindsey
