Hi I am looking at making the traditional Christmas pudding, however only want to make a small one a 1 pint size. I am wondering the following (1) is it ok to half the recipe, (2) the steaming time for a 1 pint pudding basin and (3) is it ok to use a plastic basin with a lid and if so do I still put a disc of parchment paper on top of the pudding before putting the lid on?
Thank you, Olivia

Hello Olivia,
Yes you can make half the recipe.
We still steam it for 8 hours but you can do 6 hours.
Yes you can use a plastic basin. Cover it with the buttered paper and foil make sure you do a good-sized pleat in them so there is plenty of room for the pudding to expand as it cooks. If you don’t do that the covers may burst or you can end up with a misshaped pudding.
When you replace the paper and foil you can if you like put the lid on to protect it (but remove it before you heat it).
Kind regards
Lindsey
