I did the white bread mix recipe online last week to make the French bread sticks it was nice so I decided to have another go but felt the rise was longer than the time given. So I went back to the recipe in Delia’s book only to see that there is a teaspoon of sugar whereas on line there is not is this an error because thinking about it does not the sugar activate the yeast ?
Hi Lindsey ... not a question ... just wanted to thank you for your help last week re. the Light Glace Fruit Cake and let you know that I baked it at the weekend. Twice the quantity fitted in the tin perfectly, so there was no need to bake any excess separately. It looks lovely, and is now stored away until I decorate it shortly before my son's birthday, when I'm sure it will go down very well indeed.
