Originally aired on the BBC in 1993 the series accompanied the hugely popular book with its iconic sunflower cover and throughout the summer Delia really was in all our kitchens, and her recipes were the backdrop to literally thousands of dinner parties. Fast-forward 23 years and recipes from the book are still at the top of the list of the most searched for on Delia Online.
Who can forget, Piedmont Roasted Peppers, Chicken Basque, Pasta Puttanesca and A Terrine of Summer Fruits? We were also being dazzled by new and exciting ingredients like lemon grass, crème fraîche, balsamic vinegar, fromage frais and mascarpone cream - all so exotic, it’s hard to believe there was ever a time when they were never widely available in the supermarket. Thanks to the ‘Delia effect’ they are now a part of our every day shopping and cooking.
