Hi guys!
I have had quite a challenging few months. I still do not have any clients as yet. I know starting a new business - especially a new concept like 'the cookery Angel' will take time (& effort) to become 'known' etc but I need to de-stress!
I won a 'luxury spa break' in the baking comp. And promised to take my mum on the break. It may seem like bad timing (as business was recently launched) it's only for two nights (Westin Turnberry resort Scotland) mid week BUT I feel I need to relax and see how best to get my business 'out there'. Also, if we don't take it before end of May prize will be invalid.
We won some fabulous spa treatments and full board too so we're going to make the most of it. I haven't had a holiday in years so it will be such a treat.
I believe in my business but just need to wind down for two days.
Bye the way 'the Jane Asher Home Baker of the Year comp' is now launched and the first prize this year is a £25,000 new kitchen. So go on Delia members get your recipes sent off. It was a fabulous experience why not enter this year?
xx:)cupcake
That is - a twenty five thousand pound kitchen - blemmin gremlins make the above unreadable.

why not enter this year?
Because I'm no baker: bread, yes, clever cakes like yours, no. Have a lovely de-stress time.
Turnberry is stunning, cupcake. Spoil yourselves rotten, relax and forget all about the biz for a couple of days.
Now where are my recipes.........?????
crumbs x
they've asked me to re-enter Gerry - and also all the other finalists. They've never had a double winner! Me-thinks I may enter again as I don't wanna give the trophy back (never won a trophy before) and it looks so gooood in my dresser!
Crumbs! The resort is very posh. We've got a ocean view suite with separate living room. The booze will be extra (I saw £14 for a small glass of wine in one of the leaflets in my brochure). So I reckon will be drinking tap water!!!
My poor hubby is staying home (he's got a week off). It would have been lovely to take him too but funds are so limited at present.
It's our 7th wedding anniversary next Saturday - so I'll make it up to him and cook him a very special meal.
It was my mum's 75th birthday last November and I couldn't afford a decent present, so winning the spa break was perfect.
My mum (and of course dad) are the best parents you could ever wish for and they have given me such brilliant support throughout my whole life. They are so happy to see me in such good health and starting my own business.
xx:)cupcake.
I think the timing is perfect Cupcake, you've been so involved in your new start it's maybe time to stand back and take a look at it, from a distance in a stress-free environment. OR put it out of your head competely for two days, either way you could do with the break.
Have a lovely time :-))) Bramble xxx
Cupcake, do re-enter, the new kitchen sounds excellent. You can do it again!
Enjoy the break, Cupcake, I'm sure it's just what you need right now.
Re your biz promotion, have you managed to get any editorial coverage in the local Gazette? I'd also suggest a carefully crafted and very classy flyer - even a postcard drop perhaps - around the 'Mount' etc.
Good luck anyway. And enjoy that spa!
You and your Mum have a great and relaxing time cupcake; you've earned it and you'll come back so refreshed and ready for anything.

Bramble, Jampling and Jeni. I'm really looking forward to the break. It is a really lovely resort and the weather is hopefully going to stay nice. Though methinks I'll be lounging around in a fluffy bathrobe most of the time. Its a seriously posh two night break and I can't wait to go now.
I really haven't stopped - nay paused for breath - since I did 'the Lightning Process' . I will be thinking of marketing strategies whilst away and in contact with hubby re: business. I believe so much in the business - I've just got to have faith. I do intend to RELAX as I have booked a full body massage & all the works (included in prize).
Jampling - I spoke to the Gazette news desk recently and they said they will be running my story soon. So that should be a great help. How do you know about the 'Mount'? It is one of my target areas and some of my local party/card shops, little boutiques etc are supporting me by giving out postcards of mine in their clients bags etc. They love the idea and were more than happy to help. It took a lot of guts to go into the shops and ask this favour and I am so pleased everyone I asked has been so willing to support my new business. I just KNOW everything will be all right.
Will let you know how the spa break goes when I return.
We fly out tomorrow morning and then back Thursday evening.

This sounds like just what you need right now. You've been working so hard. Go and relax and when you come back your phone will ring non-stop with enquiries. Have fun and good luck!
Cupcake asked: "How do you know about the 'Mount'? It is one of my target areas"
Once, many ions ago as a child, I lived there, Cupcake. Many fond memories!
It's a small world Jampling. My nan & grandad used to lived in Hutton. Brentwood has changed quite a bit since I was little.
Cinnamon - thank you for your positive vibes. Also, I plan to really relax when I'm away and maybe I'll get inspired for a new marketing strategy. I have a germ of an idea and will think about it while I'm being pampered. xx:)cupcake
