Just seen Gordon Ramsey's rant about Delia' HTC book.
He suggests she has let all the chefs down, by amongst other things using tinned ingredients which only poor students should be trying !!!
Strangely enough, this latest tirade comes at the same time he is seeking publicity for only using in seasonal fruit and vegetables which in itself is laudable, if you can afford it.
I enjoyed watching him at last years Good Food Show, did'nt enjoy his foul mouth, was amused at his cookalong, but for goodness sake, he really should keep his mouth shut, Delia was teaching us to cook when he was still in nappies !!
Rant over, I'll get my coat !!!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

TC, well said!
Gordon is a master of self publicity and self agrandissment. I have very little time for him. I'd love to know how many books he has sold compared to Ms Smith.
Having said that there was a funny letter in Sainsbury Magazine this week from someone who had made a Delia cheat chocolate cake and said it took about twice as long as making one from scratch using the all in one method!
i think we're all going to have to accept that opinions are split on the HTC book! i#m a mssive fan of delia and am still not wholly convinced - before you all start shouting at me tho it's becasue i haven't got a copy yet! there's no way i'm passing judgement without even trying it first!!!
Off with Samcats head!!!!!
:-)))))))
samcat...you heathen lol...bless ya xxx
poor Gordon Ramsey...riding on the back of Delia's success...just the same as name droping if you ask me...shame on him...boo hiss boo!!!!
I saw this on the news this morning as well, but the BBC have edited the interview. What Gordon is actually saying it that restuarants should be using seasonal ingredients. Yes he did mention Delia's HTC and that it was letting the side down but that she should go back to doing what she does well which was good cooking (or words to that effect!). Although to be honest with you, I'd like to see students survive on some of the cheat ingredients as some are really expensive IMO. But hey, I'm the first one to use a jar of sauce instead of cooking it from scratch :-)
Back off into lurking mode.....
Glad I'm not the only one annoyed by his foul mouth. I don't watch him because of that, it is so unnecessary, and I don't think it is good enough to say they all do it. They don't actually.
I did watch the programmes from the USA which were interesting programmes spoilt by his awful language. Shame.
Maybe I shouldn't butt in, as the book is not for sale here in Portugal, and so I've not seen it, but I can't see anything wrong in using some shortcuts to make one's life easyer in the kitchen. After all who hasn't used tinned beans,or tomatoes, tuna, etc. God saves us from the food snobs! I'm not familiar with G. Ramsay's cookery and only had the opportunity to watch Ms. Delia a couple of times on BBC PRIME, but that's all it took for me to become a fan. I wish any of our tv stations would buy and broadcast her shows, for the moment we get Jamie Oliver but though he seems a sweet guy, his hyperactivity makes me nervous.
Well said Top Conker!
