Hi can anyone help please - just bought a food processor!!! can you make cakes in them? Tried small fairy cakes - alas they were not too good - any recipes or tips please
I had one given to me last week and i must say i would not go and buy one myself, it was free off a friend so i had it. I find alo of fiddling around and washing up.
Also Delia says somewhere on her website that with food processors not much air s getting into the mix as if you were folding it by hand etc. They are good for making things crumbly like biscuits and pureeing etc but i would not use it for cakes etc.

You can't beat the old fashioned way by doing everything by hand. I get really good results by using my hands for everything.
I find doing things by hand allows you to learn whats happening to the food etc when mixing / folding etc. As when in a food processor you cannot truthfuly see whats going on and how things work and how they change whilst beating / mixing etc, and it's easy to overmix , something that you should not do with cakes when folding is in overmixing.
Thanks for your reply - yes I agree - but as this was a prsent from husband I must have a go and use it
Yes of course. I love when someone buys me a present and its for my kitchen. ;)
I have made cakes in mine OK, tho usually use a hand mixer, as getting the processor out of the cupboard is just too much trouble!
I mainly use it for soups, and also for making breadcrumbs - tho with my new little mini-chopper - think the breadcrumbs will be made in that from now on!
I make cakes in my Magimix - all in one creamed recipes, also rub in recipes, and they are fine. I also use it for pastry - always. Wouldn't be without it.
