Is there a fence between where you want to put them and your hens, if not I would think the hens would eat them!

Yes you can......but i would worry that you won;t be able to get your stakes in deep enough if you lay your grow bags flat.

now if you hugged your grow bag in half, and made 2 pots and put 3 canes in each you could happily grow 3 runners per pot. That would work perfectly.

That's the way Sam, I was going to say get some big pots, they like depth for their roots, but half a growbag on end doesn't need a pot :-))) Don't let them dry out Tilly, they like loads of water, and start to give them some feed if you can remember when the flowers start to show :-)))

A good tip we picked up from a gardening tv prog is to insert 2 huge pots into the grow bags for just a couple of inches, fill the pots and plant in them. The roots can splay out into the pot then into the growbag. Great for tomatoes.
Also for easy watering of growbags, insert 2 small pots into the growbags then pour water straight into the empty pots.
