well so far this week, haven;t we been spoilt for the weather...
not sure where to put this, but wanted to chat about it.
I used to love cooking but I am now disabled due to illness and it became a real chore. I just can't cook like I used to. So, THANK YOU DELIA.
I am so pleased with your book and with the subsequent ideas it has given me. I was really suprised at the quality of some of the tinned products.
Now, with a little help admittedly, I am able to "cook" Delia style. And the mini food processor, is a real boon.
Shepherds Pie - wonderful!
Tarts & pies - sensational!
Cheats Rissoto - sublime!
THANK YOU DELIA for helping me get back into the kitchen. I am sure there are many disabled people who feel the same too. God bless.

Made these for Easter. Went down a treat! Very tasty, not that much work considering we can't get them here, well that taste anything apart from a dry loaf of flavorless bread.
Best recipe for them I've tried yet.
Well our friends came around at 1pm yesterday and we had a drink and some nibbles while the lunch finished cooking, at 2.15pm we sat down to oven roasted chickens (2) with lemon and thyme, roasted squash stuffed with 3 different mushrooms and mild goats cheese for my veggie, roast potatoes, vegetables, stuffing and gravy, for pudding we had hot cross bun bread and butter pudding (I spread the buns with quince jelly, It was lovely) lemon flan with mini eggs scattered on top and tiramisu, a large selection of cheeses with bread and biscuits, coffee and mini eggs to finish, I hate to think how many bottles of red and white wine were drunk!! and our friends left at 7pm...... that has to be the longest lunch we have ever had..... :) It was so relaxing and so lovely to hear our girls and our friends chatting away about life, sport, work and future dreams. What a lovely day.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter, it is now our wedding anniversary today but just a quiet day with an early supper with the girls before eldest gets the train back to London. I am truly lucky to have such wonderful family and friends.
Hi you two very clever people!! I have loved reading your exploits re making your own Easter Eggs some good tips too, I am seriously going to think about making some next year, just one question, what type of chocolate did you start off with? And also what percentage of cacoa was in it.?
Great Thread, if you get the thread of the month I suggest you should get one each !!!
Yummy
are under way!!!!
its sooooooo easy.
Seems to of come upon us quickly this year. We aren't going away but most probably go out somewhere. Haven't made up my mind what to cook on Easter day. What are you having?...foodie/

Thanks Sam - and others! - I never would have thought of making my own!
I now have my Lakeland Easter Egg moulds - and - they were selling cellophane bags with little pastel coloured bunnies on - just £1 for 30 bags!
Chocolate melting here I come!
I know i am a little early. But having read Aprils Good Food Mag, thye have an interesting article about making your own easter eggs, and they have a reader of one mould plus a sheet of mini bunnies and mini chicks, for £17.99 inc p & p. I have had a look on the tinterweb, and seem some others that are a lot cheaper. cos i am wondering thats a lot of money for using only once a year, and what if i don;t get on with it.
Has anyone made their own before what moulds or shops would you recommend.
Sammy

'the cookery Angel'
I am going to be a cookery mentor for children (& sometimes their parents) in their own homes. I will mentor children in the art of cookery. Including baking bread, making pasta, sushi (with or without raw) frozen yoghurt, homemade lemonade & ginger beer and all sorts of delicious food from scratch.
I will also be offering
'a bespoke personal cookery service'
ie: childrens' lunch or dinner parties,
afternoon tea parties,
cupcake parties etc
I will turn up at my clients' homes with the food, utensils etc and cooke on their premises. I've sourced some lovely chefwear and my company colours are, raspberry pink, blackberry & platinum, I've found a great company to supply these. As soon as I can I will post some pictures of me in my role as 'the cookery Angel'.
My website isn't ready yet but I thought I'd let you know my plans.
I am the only employee so the parties will be small scale.
It is very exciting knowing this will be turning into a reality in mid-April. AND I have a mountain of work still to do. But I will keep you informed about my progress.
Thank you all for your support and patience with this venture.

I've put this on here as I am celebrating because my business loan was approved yesterday! And I feel very proud that the hours - days - weeks it took to do my business plan paid off.
I hope you don't mind me putting it here as I know you guys have been supporting me and it would have just gone down the page in a flash.
When Jeni gets here I'll let you know what I will be doing as it wouldn't be fair as she is bursting to know (thank you for email yesterday). I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday - I needed it to sink in and I was exhausted by the excitement of it.

Hurry up Jeni - I'm itching to tell people about my business
Hi everyone!
Has anyone planned a special dinner for Thursday? I would really like to bake some little (tacky) heart-shaped treats etc. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Samxx
Starting to think about Easter now as we are having quiet a celebratory weekend!! Friday 21st (Good Friday) is my OH's birthday, Sunday - Easter, Monday our wedding anniversary.
We are having our friends and their family, and my two girls (possibly with one boyfriend as well) to lunch on the Sunday to celebrate the whole weekend, so 12 in all, trying to think what to do in the way of food, there is one veggie and a little one (18 months old) so should be fun.
Think I am going to do a roasted half squash filled with mushrooms and cheese (feta or Camembert) for the veggie, possibly a barby roast turkey for the rest. new potatoes and roast mixed root veg. I am a bit stuck for a desert, I was thinking possibly a filled meringue or a plum one crust pie what do you think?
Anyone else doing an Easter meal???
Pancake making, tossing and eating is fun - but does anyone take part in pancake races? And what about other prre-Lenten festivals? I once went to the carnival in Quebec city - fantastic! Hundreds of snow/ice sculptures everywhere and an amazing ice palace! I still have my Bonhomme's scarf and the long hollow tube with Bonhomme's head on the end that we filled with beer and walked through the crowds drinking from it. It lives in my old golf bag now, LOL!
It's early this year, next Tuesday in fact. Will you be tossing them? And what's your favourite way of serving them? Since I was a child, I've loved them with butter and golden syrup - how many calories in that??!! Oh dear, I need something healthier!
