called
'the cookery Angel'
I am going to be a cookery mentor for children (& sometimes their parents) in their own homes. I will mentor children in the art of cookery. Including baking bread, making pasta, sushi (with or without raw) frozen yoghurt, homemade lemonade & ginger beer and all sorts of delicious food from scratch.
I will also be offering
'a bespoke personal cookery service'
ie: childrens' lunch or dinner parties,
afternoon tea parties,
cupcake parties etc
I will turn up at my clients' homes with the food, utensils etc and cooke on their premises. I've sourced some lovely chefwear and my company colours are, raspberry pink, blackberry & platinum, I've found a great company to supply these. As soon as I can I will post some pictures of me in my role as 'the cookery Angel'.
My website isn't ready yet but I thought I'd let you know my plans.
I am the only employee so the parties will be small scale.
It is very exciting knowing this will be turning into a reality in mid-April. AND I have a mountain of work still to do. But I will keep you informed about my progress.
Thank you all for your support and patience with this venture.
xx:)cupcake
Very best wishes. What a super idea. I'm sure you will be an inspiration to the children and parents. Brilliant idea. Let's hope it encourages lots more children into the kitchen as well. Love the colour scheme too. Biggs
Wow cupcake,
You've really taken something on. Sounds like a great idea - and lots of hard work too.
I think you're very brave - to take on teaching children, my idea of a nightmare!!
Let us know when the website goes "live".
And thanks so much for waiting for me before telling all.
A real Angel

Wow cupcake, that's fantastic news. Make sure you keep us posted when the website goes live.
All the very best
Steven
PS can you let me have your email address.
Thanks
Steven
Thank you Biggs. My colour scheme also includes white.
I was lucky enough to be taught to cook at school & at home.
I have had some very good feedback so far and I know it will be hard work. But I will be doing something I am passionate about and giving childrens skills that will help them throughout their life. I literally cannot wait to start but as I said now I have the loan I need to get things moving and that will take a little time. xx:)cupcake
Bravo, Cupcake! Very best wishes in your new venture. I'm sure we will all be fascinated to hear how it goes. Can't wait to see pics! Love Elpe x x
Jeni thank you. I was a nanny in Beverly Hills, Canada & London and I absolutely loved it. I found that if there was a fussy eater and you got the child involved in the preparation and cooking of a meal they would be much more likely to eat it.
I can't wait. xx:)cupcake
Thank you too Biggs & Steven
Please don't expect too much of my website (I still dislike computers) and I keep putting off working on it. It will be VERY basic. And as soon as it is 'live' I let you know.
WELL DONE !!!!! It sounds quite a challenge LOL Xx
Sounds great Cupcake - good luck and more importantly, enjoy it! Luv, Loopy XXXX
That is an excellent idea Cupcake, and just suited to your skills, all the best my love, and don't get too busy to come back and tell us all about it :-))) Bramble xxx
That`s so clever, cupcake, and goodness knows where this will lead........ I bet you`ll end up baking wonderful individual cakes or meals for special occasions for these folk too....
Delighted for you, we`ll raise a glass to your success - your ability, experience and enthusiasm combined are winners.
crumbs xx
Sounds like a great idea. Congratulations on getting the loan - more hard work for you but I think you'll love it and, hopefully, your energy levels will improve because you're doing something you love. I'll bet your services will be in demand - can just see it now, "Cupcake needs to take on employees".
Well done, looking forward to hearing all about it.
Thank you all for such lovely comments. This is why I am doing 'L.P' in March as I need to be better than I am now. Like I said I will start small and see where it takes me.
The hardest work was researching stuff and doing the business plan. I hate the idea of bookkeeping & accounts. (yuk) BUT I have to take rough with the smooth to fulfil my dreams.
I was so pleased to get my loan. It's not huge to most but to me it's a fortune.
I literally hadn't a penny to my name & no car (I drive automatic ONLY) so can't even borrow hubby's clapped out car.
All I had was an idea, passion & a business plan. It's been such hard work but now I have my loan approved I will now turn my dream into a reality.
I was so lucky to win the Jane Asher Baking Comp last year (I think the bank liked this part) and the reason I'm telling about my business now is that it may have slipped out soon as Jane Asher is about to launch this years comp and they know and are excited about my plans.
ALSO - this is a bit embarrassing.
Ahem! Me and my tipsy cupcakes auditioned for a TV show that will be airing on Monday Channel 5 called 'Breaking into Tesco' (about cooks trying to sell their recipe to the supermarkets)
It wasn't called that when I auditioned for it. I had to let you know now because I may or may not get shown during the run of the show. (I didn't get through) but they may show me audtioning or they may not and I mentioned that I would be a cookery mentor etc in my new business venture. I didn't want the cat out of the bag before I told you all my plans.
I'm dying to see which dishes got through so I will be glued to the screen Monday at 9pm
xx:)cucpake
sounds like a really fantastic idea.
I wish you all the best and tonnes of Luck.
I have been reading about your illness and this new LP treatment, I really do hope that works very well for you.
I hope you continue to have good health, and come back to us every now and again, to help keep you sane.
All the Best Sammy
Well done cupcake . All the best . Susan xxx
That is brilliant news Cupcake!!
I wish you lots of success. What a great idea. I'm all for getting children involved in making food and fostering an interest that will hopefully last a lifetime. I'm sure parents will appreciate it too - many of them will have been failed by our education system, or simply not have had the opportunities to enjoy learning to cook.
Well done on coming up with a fantastic idea.
Heather x
Cupcake, what brilliant news-well done you!
Sounds like a fantastic idea-as you say, involving children in the preparation of food helps the picky ones try new dishes.
Like Sammy, I've been reading up on your Lightning Process and I do hope it works for you.
Can't wait to see you in your "Angel" uniform-wonderful colours.
Good luck!
DQ xx
I really like the chefwear. I shall email my supplier soon but I have to sort out fonts etc (buy some) for my website, clothing etc. The money wll hopefully be in the bank within a week and then I'll be letting rip with the cheque book. I've so used to not having money that it'll be be strange spending it. BUT every penny has been accounted for and I have to be very careful. Most of the loan is going on car & insurances. I have had an enhanced CRB check, I've passed my Health & Hygeine cert in catering and I'm raring to go. xx:)cucpake
P.S..... I won't be wearing wings DQ (LOL)
Well done Cupcake! I only hope this won't mean we'll not see so much of you on our messageboard! Good luck XXX
BRILLAINT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am soooooooooooo happy for you Cuppy, you have no idea. Well actually you do as I am still struggling to get my lot together.
I am absolutley delighted for you
Tons of luck and best wishes. Take care of your health...
Hugs / BB xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you Noreen (where's your doreen, maureen & Norene tag?)
I shall be back and forth whenever I can. Though the hard work starts soon. I cannot thank Delia online & all the team enough for your continued support. I really do appreciate it.
I would never abandon this message board. Lets hope I'll be somewhat too busy to post sometimes (eek! might not get any clients???).
I'll have to do a sponsered sob in the cupboard under the stairs with a barrel of brandy) to raise loan repayments.
Only kidding. It will be successful, I just have to take it at my own pace to start with.
xx:)cupcake
BB I'm so glad you like my idea. We are all dying to know what you will be doing.
Trust me the hard work in the beginning is well worth the feeling of elation when it starts to fall into place.
I think you have been so quick in setting up your venture and you've been ill all Christmas & had billions of guests at you place (I read your post re: wrong day for supper party) Hope you are enjoying your salads.
I'm sure you will get your loan. Take time on your business plan as this is such an important part. Before I got my loan. I did some business workshops and they were very good.
But one chap I met during this time was very 'down' & disparaging re: women in business (he was a twit & had three failed businesses). He said no bank will give someone who's been ill for so long, has no funds no matter how good they think their idea is. As you can imagine I put said a few words that tactfully put him in his place. He also was horrible.
BB Let us know when it all goes right for you. I know you will be successful. It takes a lot of courage to leave your job and set-up on your own.
I still can't wait to find out what your plans are xx:)cupcake
Now you know I'll always come and join you in the cupboard under the stairs, plus the brandy barrel, I'm sure it won't be needed :0) Biggs
Well done CC,
Annie and I wish you every success in your NEW BUSINESS you clever old thing you !!!!!
We'll keep and eye out foe you on the telly as well.
