Freezing: Breads

 

Breads and the quaintly described 'morning goods' all freeze well, allowing you to make up a big batch of bread and enjoy that just-baked flavour and aroma whenever you want to! 

Bara Brith
Bake loaf as per the recipe and cool completely. Wrap well in clingfilm and foil and freeze for up to 3 months. Leave to defrost in packaging at room temperature for 2-3 hours before serving.

Breadmaker Hot Cross Buns
Bake the buns as per the recipe, omitting the glaze. Leave to cool completely at room temperature. Open-freeze until solid, then wrap well in clingfilm and foil or place in a rigid freezer container. Freeze for up to 3 months. Leave to defrost in packaging at room temperature for 2-3 hours before serving. Glaze and warm through as per the recipe. 

Celeriac and Lancashire Cheese Bread
Cool completely at room temperature then freeze in a polythene bag, which has been sealed well, for up to 3 months.

Cheese, Onion and Potato Bread with Thyme
Cool completely at room temperature then freeze in a polythene bag, which has been sealed well, for up to 3 months.

Cornmeal and Mixed-seed Bread
Cool completely at room temperature then freeze in a polythene bag that has been sealed well, for up to 4 months.

Irish Oatmeal Soda Bread
Leave to cool at room temperature then wrap in a polythene bag. Seal well, label and freeze for up to 4 months. 

Mini Focaccia Bread with Blue Cheese, Garlic and Thyme Topping
Complete the recipe and leave the bread to cool at room temperature. Once it has cooled completely, place it in sealed polythene bags to freeze. Defrost at room temperature.

Mini Focaccia Bread with Red Onion, Olive and Rosemary Topping
Complete the recipe and leave the bread to cool at room temperature. Once it has cooled completely, place it in sealed polythene bags to freeze. Defrost at room temperature.

Parsnip, Parmesan and Sage Bread
Make the bread and leave to cool at room temperature. Freeze in sealed polythene bags for up to 3 months. Defrost at room temperature.

Pitta Bread
Cool completely at room temperature then freeze in a polythene bag, which has been sealed well, for up to 3 months. Reheat from frozen either wrapped in foil in a moderate oven or in the toaster.

Plain and Simple White Bread
Cool completely at room temperature, then freeze in a polythene bag that has been sealed well, for up to 3 months. Defrost at room temperature. 

Poppy Seed Rolls
Cool completely at room temperature then freeze in polythene bags, which have been sealed well, for up to 3 months. Defrost at room temperature or to warm, wrap in tin foil and place in a moderate oven.

Quick and Easy Wholemeal Loaf
When completely cold, wrap and freeze for up to 3 months. Defrost at room temperature.

Quick Brown Rolls
When the rolls are completely cooled, freeze in freezer bags for up to 3 months. Defrost at room temperature.

Soured Cream Soda Bread
Once bread has cooled completely, place in sealed polythene bags to freeze. Defrost at room temperature.

Walnut and Raisin Bread
Once bread has cooled, freeze in sealed polythene bags. Defrost at room temperature.
