Travels with Delia

Here we have eight features all written by Delia. She chose an ingredient and went right back to find out how and where it gets made and how it finally arrives on our shelves.

She visited the Isle of Skye to find out about smoked salmon; in Europe, her travels took her to Spain to see how anchovies are harvested and canned, to Italy to find out about Balsamic vinegar, Marsala and Parmesan and France for crème fraîche and prunes. Further afield she went to Mauritius to follow the story of making sugar, all the way from the cane to the mill.

The features were originally published in the Sainsbury’s Magazine, but we think they are still as interesting and informative to read now as they were then, and hope you enjoy reading them too.
