What a lovely pie!
Phil How of Croxley Green, Hertfordshire contacted us to say that he had a huge success with Delia’s recipe for Apple & Blackberry Pie. He says: “As a single father with 3 children, I had not done much proper baking since my mum taught me when I was little. I cooked this blackberry and apple pie using blackberries picked from next door’s overgrown garden and used Delia’s recipe. I took a photo of it before it went in the oven, and now have this as one of my desktop wallpapers!
“I found the recipe was very easy, as are most of Delia’s. The pie was Deliaicious, and did not survive the day. I love Delia’s no-nonsense recipes, which remind me of my Nan’s cooking when as children we used to go and visit her at the Mills at Rushmere St Andrews. My children are now grown up: Richard is 23, Emma is 19 and Alex is 18 – but you don’t have to be a child to enjoy good food.
I have fond memories of my Mum cooking fruit pies using Stork margarine, with fresh fruit from the garden when I was little, and it was just so nice to be able to pass that on to my children albeit somewhat later in life.”
