The English strawberry season is set to begin earlier than it has done for 20 years, with home-grown fruit in the shops now, rather than next month.

Dry warm weather this spring means that we’re in for a treat when it comes to home-grown strawberries: not only will they taste sweeter due to the boost in sugar levels from warm weather, but they’ll also be juicier.

This should also mean fewer imported strawberries on the shelves...and lower prices.
