Hi everybody,
Just thought I would leave this with you, have used a particular recipe for falafel several times now, works really well and they are really tasty, but you don't cook the chickpeas, they are just soaked and then blitzed with all the other ingredients. I thought it was always really important to cook all pulses really well, however never had any side effects, nor has anyone I have given them to! Intrested in peoples comments, I have tried to research the topic unsucessfully, I even hav Harold Mcgees books and it is not discussed in there. I'll await some response. Cheers Andrew - Cornwall

Hi Andy,
I've used a falafel recipe that involved blitzing raw chick peas. They gave us awful indigestion and I presumed that the recipe was misprinted so never made them again. Really awful stomach cramps we had.

Hi Jeni, I have to say made these several times and never had a problem, that's me the maker and those that ate them also. Nevertheless intrested in your comments. Go on try that recipe again! I could always email the one I use. I think Falafel are one of the best fast foods out there, when combined with all the traditional middle eastern trimmings. I'm convinced the Lebanese use purely soaked uncooked chickpeas. Cheers Andrew

Andy, you can post the recipe on your profile. If you click on to the name to the left of the posting, and scroll down their page, you`ll usually see some personal recipes there.

Post yours and I`m sure a few people will try it. I adore hummous and falafel, but even cooked they don`t adore me. Still eat them, though!!

I've read some falafel recipes in which the chick peas are cooked first, then whizzed. Jeni-hope, that would be safe for you.

Hi Andy
My OH makes them a lot and always with soaked and uncooked chickpeas. They never break up. He also makes Taboulah, Houmus, Fattoush, Bkatata Kharra. This is our favourite food. I usually make some bread to go with it.
