Does anyone else suffer from squirrels in their garden, we are inundated with them and they are a real nuisance.
They eat the food we put out for the birds and even get into the so called squirrel proof nut and seed containers. Any ideas as to how to get rid of them?
hi, bluebear, I picked up this tip from a wild bird magazine,
add hot chilli powder to the nuts, squirrels can't stand it
and the birds dont notice it. The magazine promises the chilli powder doesn't hurt the birds.
I find it works well.

That's a good one Nanny, we'll try that :-)))
We still have a few squirrels knocking around the back garden, and in the park opposite us. However, they are not quite so bad in t he back garden now that we've had our back garden landscaped and the (very old and diseased) pear tree cut down). Our main problem is now magpies who scare the living daylights out of the smaller boidies. Oh - and the miserable old cat from next door who we see from time to time. We don't like to leave very much food outside in the back garden because of the pond in the park opposite - where there are rats, which love to run over the road in to the residential gardens.
Shoot them. Make great game pie, bit like rabbit.
I'm with you nothingelse - we have them in the skips a work, they have even manged to chew great big holes in the bins!
One jumped out and ran up the length of the bin man's arm a few weeks ago, much to my amusement I have to admit!
