Well our friends came around at 1pm yesterday and we had a drink and some nibbles while the lunch finished cooking, at 2.15pm we sat down to oven roasted chickens (2) with lemon and thyme, roasted squash stuffed with 3 different mushrooms and mild goats cheese for my veggie, roast potatoes, vegetables, stuffing and gravy, for pudding we had hot cross bun bread and butter pudding (I spread the buns with quince jelly, It was lovely) lemon flan with mini eggs scattered on top and tiramisu, a large selection of cheeses with bread and biscuits, coffee and mini eggs to finish, I hate to think how many bottles of red and white wine were drunk!! and our friends left at 7pm...... that has to be the longest lunch we have ever had..... :) It was so relaxing and so lovely to hear our girls and our friends chatting away about life, sport, work and future dreams. What a lovely day.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter, it is now our wedding anniversary today but just a quiet day with an early supper with the girls before eldest gets the train back to London. I am truly lucky to have such wonderful family and friends.
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary Impi. Your lunch sounds delicious, just don't count the wine bottles (that way you don't have to know how much you all consumed).
I'm sipping on a G&T for a change before I do our dinner.
I am glad you had such a happy day Impi and I also want to tell you that I made your easy fruit cake last week. Not only was it easy, it was delicious. Thank you for sharing. viv
Hi Viv, thanks and I am glad you enjoyed the cake. Have a good week :)
Your day sounded a huge success, Impi, lovely food, great family day to remember.
Belated congrats on your anniversary too. Count the bottles and be proud!! Hope the head isn`t too sore today.
crumbs :-)
Thanks crumbs, we did have a wonderful weekend and the bottles went to the bottle bank in a large box so didn't count them, I in fact was fine, two other members of my family were a little "slow" on Monday..... hehe :) Next year is going to be the celebration tho' it will be OH's 60th, and our 30th wedding anniversary so we have to think of something special for the weekend for then, at the moment I am thinking of renting a large house in Devon and inviting all our friends and family to stay for the weekend with a special meal cooked for us by a friend who has a 'party/catering at home' business, should be fun :)
