Re: SKK cookware!

I hope someone can assist me.

Has anyone got any of these pans in particular the latest range called SKK Diamant? (see below)

http://www.salamandercookshop.com/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=102

1) How heavy are these pans?
2) How do they perform when it comes to cooking?
3) How good is the non-stick?
4) Are they worth the money as they are expensive?

thank you!

Hello Omar, I've got a couple of SKK frying pans and also a couple of their saucepans - the ones that have got the ridged insides. I think they are fantastic! Definitely worth the money. Not as heavy as the Le Creuset pans. I have had them a few years now, and have to admit that some of the non-stick has come off (but they are used such a lot). Even so, I don't have that much trouble getting the stuck-on bits off when washing.

HI again Omar, sorry to be so vague, but they are probably 3-4 years old.

I have an SKK casserole just like the one Delia used on her latest series but mine has a glass lid, hers had a stainless steel one. I have had mine at least 15 years or more and i use it frequently. As Michele states they are not as heavy as Le Creuset, mine also has lost a bit of its nonstick surface but it still cleans up well and nothing sticks to its inner bottom.
I consider this to be one of my good buys!

Hi Omar,
Well, I've just bought a couple of SKK Diamante saute pans from Salamander Cookshop and these are my thoughts so far: 1) They are tough with a totally smooth base and although 'heavy' they are much, much lighter than Le Creuset. 2) The diamante non-stick seems to be very hard, but I haven't had them long enough to really test it. 3) They are beautiful to cook with on my ceramic hob - they can get really hot from a low temperature. 4) This means that the damn hob doesn't switch itself off so often when 'it' thinks my pan is hot enough! 5) The removable handles are excellent. The pans take up less space and can be used in the oven too. 6) They are expensive, but you do get quality. I have had it with hard-anodised cookware - it warps and buckles.

Hope this helps

Roy

Hi Roy!

I have seen the diamante range they look stunning pans!

Have you had any probs with food sticking? What is food release like on the non stick surface? Do you need a high heat to cook with?
