Plums, apples and figs should be at the forefront of your fruit list this month, while aubergines and peppers are still at their best for flavour. Feast on game - pheasant, venison, grouse, partridge and guinea fowl all make superb eating.
Some summery ingredients such as peppers and tomatoes are hanging on in there, but it's time to look ahead to early apples, late plums, blackberries, figs, citrus fruit and autumn lamb as well as sweetcorn, fennel, cauliflower and clams...yum!
