courgette-19439 When does a courgette become a marrow?

The answer is overnight if you don’t pick them every day, as Delia found out when she grew them! Now she prefers baby courgettes and has a myriad of ways to use this versatile but delicate little vegetable. They can be roasted simply and quickly for an accompaniment with dinner, or if you are feeling a little more adventurous we have recipes for Courgette Souffle, Ratatouille, Courgette Soup with Watercress and Pecorino Pesto and a brilliant recipe for Courgette Cakes with Mint and Feta Cheese.

strawberries-19595 h2182-eton-mess-18687 In season…

It’s true to say that English strawberries are the best in the world, available in June and July, the season is very short, and Delia’s advice is not to eat them at any other time. Her advice, if you want to really enjoy a feast of strawberries, is to pick your own, or buy from a local grower. If you do have to buy them from a supermarket, she recommends you let your nose be your guide and that the strawberries have a strong, ripe scent, which indicates a good flavour.
