Layering and Icing

Delia shows How to Layer and Ice Cakes. We do both when making an Iced English Walnut Cake.

Once the sponges are baked, place them on a flat surface, its better to sit down so you are level with the cake, then using your hand to steady it carefully and slowly cut the cake in half.  Repeat this again and you now have four layers.  You can ice a cake with whipped cream, mascarpone or any other kind but Delia shows how using fondant icing.
