Malabari Soup (Vegetarian)

Serve piping hot with crusty bread.



1 cup cooked rice,1 Tbs slivered ginger/garlic,3 tsp fenugreek seeds,8 cups water,8 pepper corns,4 whole cloves,1 cup of dhal (yellow split peas),1 Tbs oil,1/2 cup coconut milk,4 red chillies,1 tsp cumin,salt to taste,1 stick cinammon,2 onions sliced,1 sprig curry leaves,1 leman


Saute onions in oil. Add washed dhal, slivered ginger/garlic, curry leaves and all the other spices and braise for a couple of minutes.
Add water and cook till dhal is soft and mushy. Add coconut milk and juice of a lemon and the boiled rice. Infuse well
