Chestnut rolls (vegetarian alternative to sausage rolls)

This is a lovely recipe from Rose Elliot. Takes a minute to make and are loved by veggies and meat eaters alike.

 
 
 
 

Ingredients

250g unsweetened chestnut puree, 1 small onion - grated, 1 clove garlic - crushed, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 100g wholewheat breadcrumbs (or white if you prefer), pinch chilli powder, , 225g puff pastry

Method

Mix everything (except pastry!) together and stand for a few minutes. Add more breadcrumbs if necessary. ............................................................................................................................ Roll out pastry quite thinly and cut into long strips 5cm wide. Roll pieces of mixture to width of little finger and lay onto pastry. Dampen edges with water and roll. Prick with a fork and cut into 2.5cm lengths. Bake for around 10 minutes at 190/375/gas 5.
