Mince together the apple and raisins. Place in a large pan with all the other ingredients except the tomatoes and onions and boil for ten minutes. Drain the tomatoes and onions well and add to pan. Boil gently for one and a half hours

Nans Green tomato Chutney

For a finer chutney the onions and tomatoes may be coarsley minced
Ingredients
4lb green tomatoes,6 large onions,6 large apples,1lb raisins or sultanas,1 1/2 lb sugar,1 quart vinegar,2oz mustard seed,4oz cayenne pepper
Method
Chop the tomatoes and onions. Layer in a large bowl and sprinkle with salt. Leave overnightMince together the apple and raisins. Place in a large pan with all the other ingredients except the tomatoes and onions and boil for ten minutes. Drain the tomatoes and onions well and add to pan. Boil gently for one and a half hours
