guinness beef stew wprunes

serve in large bowls wfrench bread and red wine enjoy sprinkle wchopped parsley



aadd bay leavesadd potatoesand celery 2 lbs beef as for stew,2 tblsp drippings,2 onions chopped,3 cloves garlic crushed,1/4 c flour,1c beef stock,1c guinness stout,2 carrots sliced,1 turnip sliced up,2 bay leaves,1 sprig frsh thyme,pepper to taste,1/2c prunes halved and pitted,4 potatoes cut up,3 celery ribs chopped,


in large pan brown meat in drippings along w/onion/garlic brown meat on all sides, ,reduce heat sprinkle w/flour add beef stock, add carrots, add guinness,add turnip add thymeadd prunes 30 min before removing from heatcook covered 1 1/2 hrs remove lid and simmer till thick
